Behind the Canvas
Behind the Canvas
Art should do more than fill a wall. It should create a feeling, invite curiosity, and become part of the story of a space.
Inspired by restraint, timeless design, and collected interiors, each painting develops through a layered mixed-media process that may include lime wash, acrylic, oil paint, pastels, cold wax and translucent glazes, depending on the needs of the piece. Texture, depth, and atmosphere emerge over time, allowing the history of the painting to remain visible.
The path to painting wasn’t traditional. After years of living with chronic migraines, I began teaching myself to paint. What started with curiosity became a daily practice and the foundation of HUDDY BLEU. While the migraines are now behind me, the patience, gratitude, and perspective from that season continue to influence my work today.
Whether exploring familiar forms, vintage subjects, or architectural influences, the common thread is a balance of simplicity, texture, and depth. Every piece is created to feel at home in contemporary interiors, historic homes, boutique venues, and thoughtfully designed environments.
Thank you for visiting HUDDY BLEU. I appreciate your interest in my work and the stories and journeys you choose to share.
